Clinical & Academic Foundation
My career in psychiatry began as Lecturer. Later it rooted in both the treatment of patients and developing theoretical concepts for the education of future mental health professionals. Throughout my practice and work I have focused extensively on developing structured, accessible approaches to clinical formulation.
This work has culminated in the development of specialized conceptual frameworks, most notably the Four-Factor Model of Personality Dynamics and the Conservation-Assimilation-Maturation Triangle Theory of Needs. These models were designed to move abstract theory out of the textbook, providing clinicians, students, and patients with practical, theory-backed tools to better understand human behavior and psychological needs.
The Art of Graphic Medicine
Theoretical frameworks are only as valuable as our ability to communicate and apply them. To make these dense behavioral concepts truly intuitive, I turned to the medium of graphic Psychiatry.
Creating under the pseudonym Inquisitive Ignoramus, I use sequential art, multi-panel comic strips, and infographics to visualize complex psychological processes. Drawing inspiration at times from the brilliant editorial, caricature-style storytelling of R.K. Laxman, and often grounding the narratives with South Indian cultural figures, these storyboards translate abstract diagnoses into relatable, human experiences.
By bringing clinical models to life through character-driven dialogues and visual metaphors, the goal is to make rigorous psychiatry accessible and engaging.
A Vision for a Better Social World
Ultimately, my work, whether in the lecture hall, the clinic, or through the panels of a comic strip, stems from a core belief: understanding psychological processes is essential for building a better social world.
When we can clearly visualize why we think, feel, and act the way we do, we break down the barriers of stigma. We foster deeper empathy, improve clinical outcomes, and take meaningful steps toward a more compassionate and connected society.
